My corn snake threw up, Why? Please Help.?

I have two baby corn snake, one 5 months and the other 3 months. The younger one threw up his pinky last week and this week. My other one is doing just fine though. Please help, Im really worried about him.

the food is too big..

you are handling him within 48 hours after feeding him..

or the heating is not right...it need to be about 80-85 degrees

for him to digest his food

the food might have been too big for him to handle. or you might be the problem. if you hold a snake right after they eat, it can upset their stomach. your supposed to wait to hold a snake until it goes to the bathroom, about 2-3 days later.

it maybe because of the size of the food.

most snakes regurgitate (throw up) their food because they cannot digest it because it is too big.

another reason is that it could have been started which made it regurgitate to be able to escape.

try smaller pinkies or large crickets for awhile and see how it goes.

if nothing changes, take him to the vet!

Ok, so this is gonna get messy...

1) ***STOP*** feeding him. STOP!!! Don't offer him anything to eat for about 2 weeks.

2) STOP handling him except to clean the tank and change water. Let him rest! For about 2 weeks as well.

3) Next time you try to feed him (in about 2 weeks) cut the head off the pinky and offer JUST the head. If he takes it great. Leave him to rest for about another week and then offer him about half of a pinky and if he takes it let him rest another week. Do the 1/2 pinky for about 3 more feedings and then move back to the full pinky.

If the snake won't take the head to start with leave it alone for about 5 days and try again. If it still won't take the head it's time to see a vet and discuss force feeding.

Your snake has about a 25 to 50% chance of survival right as it is.
