Ok so I bought my snake on a friday, PetCo told me the snakes ate on thursday and to feed them agian next thursday. So its going on sunday. My snake wont eat. Weve tried feeding her on thursday then friday and so on and she wont eat. The thing is, is that a couple days after we got her she was climbing around the tank at the top and she got stuck on duckt tape. We got her off save and sound and shes acting normal. Shes active like our other one. Its just do you think shes not hungry? Becuase I can see the other parts of food that hasnt digested but the big part looks cloudy. Im really worried about my snake. God any ideas whats going on?

  1. I wish you had described the black spot a little more. That concerns me. Is it a black spot on the belly about halfway down the snake? If so, find a vet immediately if it's not too late. Check your temperatures. Often a spot on the stomach is the food rotting inside the stomach of the snake because the temperatures are too low for the snake to properly digest its food.

  2. There are loads of reasons why a snake wont eat. Make sure the food's nice and warm and don't warm it up in water, this can wash the smell off and she may not know it's food, sit it under a lightbulb until it's at body temp then offer it to her. She may also not want to eat in front of you, sounds silly but it happens, place it outside her hide and leave her alone with it, she may take it in the hide and eat it there (pls don't do this if she is housed with another snake, there is a possibility they will both take an end of the prey and one will end up swallowing the other, always separate your snakes while feeding) Is she due to shed? Ours wont always feed in the week or so before. We have two corns an while one eats regularly the other can be quite temperamental. Try offering a different colour or species of prey, our boa will only eat black mice, not white, so maybe she's fussy. Don't worry about the tape incident, one of ours got stuck on some electrical tape and he was fine.I would recommend you put her in a separate container, on a spare heat mat and with a hide and then when the food is nice and warm place it just ouside the hide and leave her alone with it, if she's not due a shed and is hungry, she'll eat it, if she doesn't, try again in a few days, snakes can go weeks without food so as long as she's got plenty of water she should be fine. Hope this is helpful and good luck.
