We've had her for for 2 weeks now. She doesn't want to eat. When we put her in the feeding tank with the pinkie she doesn't even care for it. Shes very small. We bought another one the same time we bought her. And hes ate 2 times already. Shes albino so you can see through her, and it looks like there's some still in her belly. There's a small round black spot that might be food but it looks like its moving down. And there'ss another spot, but its kind of in the middle of her upper body. Itdoesn'tt look anything like the other spot. It got smaller but after it got smaller ithasn'tt done anything. The fist couple days we got her, she got stuck toductt tape and some of her scales got ripped off, butthey'ree growing back. Someone told us she might be about to shed, but how long does that take? And her eyesaren'tt changing colors. But we have found her in the water bowl twice just soaking in there. And she is drinking. So anyideass on whats going on?

  1. If she has been soaking in the water dish then she is probably getting ready to shed.  Most of the time they will turn a pinkish color on the bottom side and then back to normal.  Then their eyes will haze over and they are getting ready to shed.  This would explain why she is not eating.  If she is just a baby you should start out by feeding her only 1-2 small pinkies every week.  I hope this helps.  As for seeing the black spots in them... well I have a few albinos and all of them are like that.  Most of the time it is something they have just ate, but sometimes I think it is some of their vital organs that you are seeing.  Good luck.  Email me at exodosgurl@yahoo.com if you need any help.

  2. Each snake is going to have its own personal feeding pattern. If she isn't losing weight and isn't lethargic I wouldn't be too worried about it.

  3. most snakes only eat once every few weeks.  you have to wait for everything to digest first

  4. The damaged scales may be affecting her.  Are you using under tank heat pads?  Are the temperatures set to 85F?  This is important for corns.  Try feeding her at night, which is natural for them.  Are you using frozen pinkies?  If so, make sure they are soaked in hot water just before feeding...they like them really warm.  For complete corn care, check out the forums and you can ask questions there as well.

  5. I don't know what the exact problem may be but it's way too early to freak out. There is nothing wrong w/ a snake not eating for two weeks. If it goes 4 weeks, than i may worry but even then it's not that big of a deal. I had a baby albino corn once that wouldn't eat for 3 weeks and I just attempted live w/ him and he ate fine. IF you're trying frozen, try live. If you're try live, try frozen and wiggling it to make it look alive. If you're still haveing problems just leave the pinkie in the cage for a day. Don't put it in a seperate cage for an hour and if it doesn't it, seperate it. Give it some time and leave the food in the snakes cage w/ him. Dont' worry guy, snakes can go very very long w/out food.

  6. Everyone else seems to be addressing this question with lots or reasons/suggestions, so I'll just ask one thing...

You mentioned two snakes.  Are you keeping them in the same tank?  Snakes should be housed individually.

Just in case, if it hasn't shed and eaten in a couple more weeks:

If you don’t already know of a qualified exotics/reptile vet in your area, google: “Herpetological Society” -or-

Enjoy your new pets, and good luck with the lil guys.

I hope this has been helpful.

  7. she is about to shed their eyes don't turn blue until they start their shed. when their skin turns different colors. but if she soaks it means it is not humid enough try giving her a humid box so she can shed easier.
