Ok, how can you make a statement like that when China only has 83 medals to the US who has 95.  Anyone who says gold only counts, then why give out silver and bronze?  Silver and bronze are great accomplishments and are just as importaint as gold.  Of course what do you expect from a country who uses under age athletes?

  It is obvious that China is going to be the new superpower not just in sports but in the world. and I do not think that most Americans know how to deal with it.  I am British and we were once a superpower, as were France & Italy, the US is a  relatively new country and not being  # 1 is new for them.  I suggest you learn the lessons of past empires and remain humble because it is only temporary.

the official table is done on most gold medals, there is a table for silver and bronze and i'm sure america is top of them.

the whole world does it on gold medals except one country, you guessed it america.

i personally think it should be done on a points system which would still make china number 1

in defence of the gold system if it was done on overall medals what would be the point in coming first if all medals where the same? why do you have a podium with gold being the highest since according to america all medals are the same
