Well, my cousin is turning 13 in December... and she has lost all of her front teeth except for 2 of the pointy ones, and 3 of her first molars.

She wants braces so badly, that she cries about it. She told me that she has been asking the dentist about it since she was 10, and they said that she didn't need them yet... now she's crying again. She really wants braces soon, and she wants to know if she is able to get them. She says that she has heard that you have to lose all of your baby teeth... 20 is what she thinks. She is crying..... again. Please help us out. Is there some possible way that she could get braces anytime soon, or how long would it be? Thanks for answering.

  1. You might be able to began "phase 1" with some baby teeth. I started when I was around 10, still had my baby teeth. But I begun with "phase 1."

  2. If you are so concerned about your cousin, better confront her parents to pay attention to her dental health. Once it is paid right attention to, all your question will stand answered by dentist/orthodontist.

  3. i couldnt get my braces untill i lost all of my teeth. and im just about to be 13

  4. To reposition teeth, they have to be permanent. But if she needs a primary step like a palate expansion, she could probably start.

It's all up to the orthodontist, they're the experts.

I think they can start without the molars though.

Once the teeth get about halfway straight, they add on brackets to the other molars.

That was my case, at least, because the other ones were so far away.

  5. We can't really tell her when she can get her braces on. If the Dentist says she doesn't need them then she doesn't need them. If they do no refer her to an Orthodontist she will no be getting her braces on soon
