My cousin is goin to give me her car. she lives in NC and I live in DC. I dont have a license..

I am thinking to transfer the title to my friend who have a licence and drive the car all the way to DC.. my Q is can we drive the car without INSURANCE TO DC?

  1. Never drive any vehicle without insurance. Don't transfer the title to your friend either. If you two get in a fight she can claim your cousin gave her the car, or that you gave it to her after your cousin gave it to you.

    Get your license before you ever attempt to drive the car!

    Keep it registered, titled and insured under your cousin's name until you get to DC. Then have your parents title it in their names and yours. Have them put you on their insurance until you're old enough to pay for your own. Make a deal with your parents that you will be responsible for your own insurance payments then stick to it.


  2. If the insurance points to the same address as it appears on your license, you must be under the policy. Other than that, the car itself MUST be insured.
