  1. the pay stays low and pretty soon you hate it sick alot get tired of parents  daycares suck no chance to move up

  2. Unfortunately, at a public day care, she will never make a lot of money. I have an aunt who is the director of a nationally recognized day care chain. She's been working in day cares for about 16 years. I work for a call center & make more money than she does. I have no degree & only 6 years experience.

  3. It really depends on her education, experience and the type of setting she works in.  I work in California as a preschool teacher and I have my B.S. degree in Early Childhood Ed.  The average salary for someone with my credentials is 29-32k, which is all dependent on the type of school.  State systems, like Head Start generally pay more, but the type of work is a lot different from that of a privately owned "home based" or "small chain" preschool.  There's more stress on paperwork in State systems, at least that has been my impression.  A person who only has min. credits in early childhood ed., to work with preschool age children are paid closer to minimum wage.  Sometimes a couple dollars more, but not usually.  The only way to make more, is to earn your degree and/or perhaps run your own, out of home, daycare.  Or become the director/administrator of a school.

  4. Well there are a lot of factors. Does she have her Associates Degree where she could go into Administration and run a school herself? Daycare centers typically do not pay employees well unfortunately. She may do better as a private nanny....my friend makes $16/hr as a professional nanny (not live in.)

Best of luck to your cousin.

  5. Depends on if she does family daycare

(out of her home) or group daycare. Group daycare has its perks, like wear and tear on somone else's stuff and not as much records to keep, but it is very low pay. In family daycare you can make more money and take a lot of tax write-offs. No one will ever get rich off of either one though.
