I set up a consolidation plan to pay my credit cards off, one of which hadn't accepted the terms of the plan so the monthly payments were not being made to this account for 3 months. so my credit card issuer recently closed my acct (which i did't know) 2-3 weeks later i paid the balance in full . can i re-open this account? if not how long should I wait for this to clear up before applying for a new credit card? and is it wise to go thru the same bank/issuer?

  1. More than likely they closed the account for a specific reason and just by paying the balance off may not be enough to get it reopened. If you have poor credit and want to get a unsecured gold visa credit card to get re-established you can go to SaluteYes and get the Salute Gold Visa Credit Card http://www.creditcardwave.com/www.salute...

  2. Ask the issuer, not us.

  3. They will not re-open that account.  You would have to apply and they may open another account for you.

However, if this consolidation is a Debt Management Program that is noted on your Credit Report.  No creditor will approve a credit card until you have completed the program.  Because the reason you supposedly went on the program was in order to pay off your debt not acquire more.

  4. I do not think that the card issuer will reopen the account because they obviously felt the need to close it in the first place. Secondly, i would not try to get another card yet especially since you were just on a payment plan. That is proof enough that you need to make sure everything else is in order first. Also I would not recommend getting another account with the same company. If you go somewhere else you may increase the chance depending on the reason code on the credit report but if it states closed by grantor that is not good.

  5. It is most likely closed.  Check out http://www.ineedrates.com for low interest cards
