My credit report shows the same account twice with two differnet companies. How do I fix it?

  1. You need to go to either the Experian, Transunion or Equifax website and look at your FREE credit report again.  They have a tab that you can click on "Dispute a record."  You type in what the problem is and they will check it out.  They will mail you the verdict, whether it's stays or whether they will remove it.  Luckily for you, if they remove it, your credit score may go up just a little, but hey, every little bit counts!!


  2. LVNV Funding is a collection agency. Bank of America no longer owns your debt. They are probably reporting you as a charge off. LVNV is probably reporting you as an open collection account.

    They are both allowed to report the same account. You can try disputing but no guarantees that it will get rid of either of them...especially if it is for a recent delinquency.
