I have a baby crested gecko who I am feeding baby food (peach). Lately I have been coming home to his cage/food cap full of gnats! Maybe it is because of the heat, especially but its really annoying me. Also I think I saw him eating one.

Although I'm not sure, I want to make sure its fine if he does.

I imagine its fine.

  1. Wild insects can carry disease, parasites and insecticides to your pet.  It is NOT a good idea to let him 'wild feed.'

IF you have fruit flies gathering, they are attracted to his food or waste.

Something is wrong with your feeding, or cleaning.

Correct the source, and the flies will vanish.

What is he housed on?  What do you feed?  Is it left hours on end in the habitat, and under heat?  Etc.

If you have flies, I would also be concerned about bacteria growth.

Google your pet, and find out what the trouble is.

    Fix it.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

**Add PEACH baby food is NOT a balanced diet.  They now have a 'canned' recipe for Cresties, which can be mixed with baby foods for people unwilling to provide insects.  DO YOUR RESEARCH.
