  1. you need to buy one since cross-stitch needles have a wide eye. It is not much pointed though.

  2. Needles are very inexpensive.Cross stitch needles are more blunted on the ends than a regular sewing needle, and have longer and larger eyes.  In cross-stitching, you will be using 2-3 threads instead of single threads.  The larger eye accomodates the extra thread better which will allow the thread to lay evenlywhen making your x's

  3. I'd get one. Sewing needles are sharp and can get inside the web of the cross stitch and aside from being frustrating it will lessen the look of the project if not corrected

  4. You can get them cheaply at the fabric stores..just embroidery needles, wider eye with not a super sharp point. It's too easy to poke yourself on accident if it's a sharp tip regular needle.

  5. I use a regular needle, its the only type I use. Ive done cross stitching for years now.

I make baby or lap quilts, even though they come with needles, I dont like how that theryre so much smaller then what I prefer.
