My cub cadet lawn mower is blowing white smoke (lots of it) please help!!

my cub cadet lawn mower that I bought in december has been blowing white smoke in large amounts and the engine is heating up. My grass was really long when i was cutting it and this happened. I put in the oil and gas but it still happened. What should I do??

  1. The unit is still covered under warranty so have it looked at by an Authorized Cub Cadet Depot.


  2. If this is a water cooled unit, I would guess you are getting water into the oil. Don't use it until checked out with the seller. You may need a new motor.

  3. get it in for service before the warranty expires.  And be sure you have the oil at the correct level before you take it in or they will claim you forgot to put in the oil and fried the rings.   You are probably burning oil, although often oil smoke will have more of a blue color.  Is the engine air cooled or water cooled?  If its water cooled, you might have a leak between the coolant and the combustion chamber.  Did you add the oil before you started the engine, or did you start it first and then discover you didn't have oil in the crankcase and then add it later?  If the latter, you could have damaged the cylinder walls and/or rings even with a short run with it dry.

    If you have a warranty still in effect, call and get it in for service.  Its going to be an expensive repair if its the rings

  4. Your machine is under warranty,don't do anything to void it. see your dealer or where you bought it for instructions.
