My dad is having sharp pains through his body. and it feels like his hands & ankles are on fire.

he has really bad varicose veins in his legs. he is an alcoholic as well. he is in his mid 50's & doesn't have insurance. i need to know why this is happening & what i can do to help him & some how stop the pain.

Assuming from what you have said that your father is an alcoholic , he should be refraining form drinking and seeking the help of AA  " Alcoholics Anonymous " and let them help him . These people are experts at this and they are all reformed from alcohol from their past . As for the pain in his legs is more likely to be caused by the poor circulation  in his legs for lack of exercising and spreading to his ankles and hands . Your father is in serious condition and needs serious help and I would suggest to you to call Alcoholics Anonymous and see what hey can do for you to help your father .I wish all the luck and God Bless you .
