My dad never got me a birthday present and I'm kind of upset. How do I talk to him about it?

Well I turned 14 in April...

Its now August.

My dad doesnt have/make a lot of money, but he has enough to live on. I'd really like something, and that something is well...new clothes. Maybe a new sweater for the fall or pair of pants for school idk.

Am I selfish to think this?

No ofcourse not. Maybe he forgot. Show him something that your mom got you, he'll get the picture.

No, u r not slefish all people like to be recognized on a special day..BUT maybe he has had money problems..and didn't want to say anything..Maybe just let it go for now..always next year..did he usually buy somehting or a card or cake or was that someone elses job?

i could totally understand how you would feel hurt.

did he even say happy birthday?

if not, maybe he forgot yur birthday.

if so, jut sit him don and tell him that he forgot your birthday and that it realy hurt you.

U should let hi know what u want, but subtly. tell him about what wonderful  b'day gifts ur friends get from their dads. He 'll understand.And if he cannot afford to give u one ,at least he 'll not be embarassed.

Thanks for answering my question about my mom lol.

But anyway, i grew up with nothing. I lived with my grandparents till i was 8. And they didnt make much money but they would do anything so that i would have a good birthday and christmas i was thankful as ****. i honestly never expected anything cause i knew what they were going threw. you should do the same and realize its a sweater or a pair of shoes. youll eventually grow out of them and never wear them again, but if he does get you something it could ruin his savings for good. ya know?
