My dad found out I'm going to a party on Saturday. He said if boys are going I'm not. I told him there wouldn't be, but there will be. I'm 16 and I think that is a really stupid thing. I know he is going to find out becuase he will find out guys are there once I am dropped off. Does anyone think this is fair? Should I get a friend to drive me there so he won't find out?

  1. your dad is just being dad and yeah try to a get friend to give u a ride

  2. o my gosh same with my parents they always tell me that but i just tell them that there are no boys. just tell your dad there are no boys and to trust u he should know that ure big enough and that its ok to go theres nothing wrong with go in there theres so boys

  3. It would be nice if your dad could trust you - and that you would get chance to show him you know how to  'behave'.

Sadley we are living in a cotton wool society where parents occasionally control there kids behaviour a tad too much.  Blame the media - it frightens us parents when we hear of the horror stories out there that are waiting to 'hurt' our kids.

With regards the party - let your dad know that boys are gonna be there, but also let him know that you are not going to do anything silly with any of these boys.  Then maybe to allay his fears further ask him to pick you up at the end.

    Good luck

  4. Tell him, don't worry dad, there's no boys here it's a L*****n party.

I'll be he won't mind so much next time you show interest in boys.

  5. Will the parents of the kid having the party be there?  If so have the mother or father call your dad about it.  If no adults I wouldn't let you go either!

  6. Pool Party, with guys? Your dad is a good man. Respect him.

  7. My dad does the same thing. I just say that there are no boys. I mean, if you're smart enough you won't go to anything dangerous in the first place. Get a friend to drive you.

  8. Hi! I feel ur pain! Im 16...and, my father AND brother are overly protective like that 2! No, dont have some1 else drive u, thats just stupid and PARENTS ALWAYS FIND OUT!!! lol

Ya, sure ur most likely right nothing will happen. But, What if something did? Then, u would feel awful, and ur dad would reserve the right 2 say "i told u so"...like most parents do. Ur dad is just trying 2 protect u. Anyways, most of the partys end up with some1 being drunk. And, ur dad knows that and he is scared that if u were 2 get drunk that the guys would end up taking advantage of u [which could lead 2 pregancy.]

Just, tell ur dad straight up...."Dad, look, u raised me up 2 make right decisions! So, ur going 2 have 2 trust me that i will."

    That sometimes works...
