My dad says we can only celebrate our birthdays on even years, because he fears odd numbers. Is this fair?

I hate having birthdays every other year. I hated turning from 12 to 14 to 16, etc... I'm actually 19 now and I want to go to Canada to drink, but my dad says "No, not until you're 20 son".

I think my dad is a sad, cheap man who deserves to be flicked in the ear. How do I get him over this phobia of odd numbers?? He says lots of kids only get to celebrate their birthdays on even years. Is this true?

  1. Only invite him to your celebrations on your "even" years.

And, IMO, forget coming to Canada to drink. If you MUST, come by taxi or bus.

    .

If he figures you only celebrate every other year, maybe thqt is his way of saving money for gifts? Well, as I said, only invite him every other year since he does NOT want to be included in the others.

And, of course, only recognize HIS birthdays, anniversaries, etc. EVERY OTHER year.

  2. Lol! Thanks for the laugh.

  3. No, it's not true that "lots" of kids only get to celebrate their birthdays on even years.  In fact, I've never heard of another case.

Sounds like your father may have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or some other psychological problem and could use some counseling.
