then give it to charity, if you're in a position where your Dad can buy you anything you want, you are obviously in a safe, secure position. Try donating money to someone who isn't.

You must be a very happy, contented person to not have any idea what you want for a gift.   If this is so, why not pass the joy in some way and share your gift with someone who doesn't have as much?

Coming online to ask strangers what you want means you can't think of anything, which means you don't need or even want anything.

Tell him you want a new Rover or other, a lifetime supply of service, sticker fees, and petrol, and a garage to put it in, behind your new home in the location and size of your choice.

Seriously, it depends on the size of the budget and what you are doing in life or want to do. In my case last year, the big Christmas gift was a new laptop computer, and a rather expensive one at that. Wanted and needed because I have scientific calculations to do and other computing jobs in my uni studies (graduate course in psychology).

Split the gift... put half the money toward the present, and the other half in an investment account.  Trust me, you'll appreciate it someday!
