My dad is a mechanic for airplanes and he always has wanted to buy a junker (probably a muscle car of some sort) and completely refit it and do like a ton of work on it. He was saying that I should do it with him we do it then I get it when were all finished with it. I want too that way I can learn car maintenence etc.

But what kind of car? Any suggestions? I'll be going into college soon-ish and I'd like a practical car thats fairly decent with mileage. But I realize those are hard combinations when it comes to rebuilding a muscle car (which my dad wants too do)...

Any car suggestions? He hasn't said much I'm sure he has the car he'd like but he wants me to think it up....

Thanks

  1. We did that a few years ago too. Originally wanted to go the muscle car route, but ended up going with a Jeep which actually made more sense. Parts for any given body style of jeep are easy to find anywhere, and the aftermarket scene for jeep stuff is just massive.

  2. a Ford Gran Torino would be cool. any Mustang before '74. and for something really different, a Beetle. The sky is the limit with a Beetle. There are Beetles that can spank Muscle Cars on the strip! check out this set:

  3. a 64-67 Mustang with a straight 6 you can get good power from that engine its weird i know but there are people who like that engine in those years of mustang. Plus it can be decent on gas mileage.

Its cool that you can do that with your dad it can be a good bonding experience. Good luck
