My dad was in a car accident and it was a cop that hit him?

My dad was turning and a cop had his emergency lights on which at first my dad did not see and the cop DID NOT have his emergency siren on(there are a couple of witnesses to testify). Once he saw the lights he stopped to give the right of way but the officer still smashed into him from the front left side(so the cop could have just swerved out of the way). My dad got a ticket and is going to go to court to settle this but i was wondering if there is anything that would be helpful to my dad in court with the fact that the officer did not have his sirens on?

  1. Video cameras are common in police cars, his first step is to see if there is a video available.

  2. Sounds like your dad is going to need a lawyer if he was ticketed.

  3. Your dad should not talk to the cops. He needs to get a laywer just because the cops had the red lights on does not mean that the cop should not drive safe.

  4. good luck to dad-the cop will say he was not distracted by his computer, radio, cell phone, switching the right lights on,his baton sticking him or his taser getting checked for the right settings etc and that your dad is a complete idiot-

  5. Fact is, person behind you, holds the responsibility in driving too close and/or too fast, police officer on their way to a scene or not.

Your dad has a valid arguement. Suggest he do it (at court) respectfully, but with pride... It was not his fault.
