  1. sure can, I've seen mates on fishing boats who were on the water 20+ years all of a sudden get sea sick !

  2. Blood pressure could be the culprit.  Also, if he has any issues with his ears, this can affect his equilibrium which in turn can cause him to get dizzy, etc..

  3. Yes it can happen tell your dad to eat something with black pepper and he should feel better when he goes out on the water. Also clean his ears. That can sometimes make you sea sick

  4. i think yes you can become seasick suddenly. cause I have the same experince like your Dad. high blood preasure I think that's the problem. so if your Dad on boat just tell him to take a rest cause if he tired  it easy to have seasick. control his food, try to avoid too much consume meat ok!!!

  5. Sorry to hear that, must be so frustrating for him :(

As we get older, our bodies change.  You can still suddenly get allergies as you get older...

I think his high blood pressure is affecting him, so he could try drinking ginger beer for the nausea or take the anti-sea sick tablets.

  6. yes it is possible i have been working around and on boats  it has happened 2 me high blood pressure also have yer dad check with doctor  about  fluid in ears and body it goes with high b/p good luck and sailing

  7. The most important issue here is the high BP. This MUST be addressed or there may be far more serious consequences than seasickness. I'm 62, have hypertension, went to the doc who wrote  a subscription, and my blood pressure went way down within a week. Blood pressure meds are not that expensive these days and can save a life!

  8. In my opinion, everyone gets seasick - just a matter if time, conditions.  what a dreadful feeling too!

  9. Well you might wanna make sure he has his B.P. checked out but that's not always the culprit. It could be wax in his ears has built up and thrown his equilibrium off, older people sometimes have this alot. I've seen it alot in the Doc's office.

If it gets too troublesome he can get the patch to go behind his ear if the Doc okays it.
