My dad was wondering how many pounds of potatoes you get for every 50 lb. bag you plant just curious thanks.?

  1. For every hill your plant, you get about 4 potatoes, maybe 6. So you will get about 1.5 pounds for every hill. When you get a 50 pound bag of seed potatoes, you will cut each seed potato into about 3 pieces making sure that there is a couple eyes on each piece. 50 pounds of seed potatoes could produce 150 hills.


  2. The average rule of thumb is 10  to 1. For every pound of potatoes you plant (In a normal year) you can expect appx. 10 pounds in return. A milder season, or a little more rain than normal, etc. can increase yield. On the opposite end, hotter weather, drier, etc. will decrease. The variety you plant will also affect this yield somewhat. I have verified this online before but don`t remember the exact site. I will try to find it for you and post the link.
