My dad won't let me spend my money how I want, what do I do?

I am really frustrated with this, and this frustrates me because I'm almost 18, yet I can't decide how I can spend my money, everything I have to get has to be a bargain. It starts with me wanting to buy my own computer with my own money, I'm getting just as much memory and all that, but for $200 cheaper, but no, I can't spend $300 to buy my own computer (it's on sale) with my own money. I'm criticized on how I buy my clothing new, and how I should get it used, when in fact, I only spend $20-25 on jeans, and I only buy a pair every 2 months. It frustrates me that I can't spend my money how I want and that every thing has to be a bargain or I can't get it. How can I convince my dad to let me spend my money how I want to spend it? It's cool he's looking out for me financially, but I feel like I got no freedom to spend my money however. I do have money saved up, but it would be nice to buy stuff too. How can I convince him to let me spend my money the way I want to and to get help only when I actually need it?

do you think he is worried about you doing sexual things with the computer....the clothing sounds very reasonable....maybe you can strike a compromise with the computer...would you agree to a parental control where certain sites arent allowed? that could work...offer to do that..

Well maybe you should just talk to your dad about this. just be like "okay look dad. I'm not a kid. I think that I should get to spend my money however I want to. Not your way. It's not your money." Say something like that. If he still doesn't give in I'd still by the computer anyways. I don't think i would care what my dad would say. I'd just get it. It's your money. Do what YOU want with it.

just show him how much computers coast. 300 is awesome for a new computer it is a good price even for a used computer.
