  1. if he doesn't want you to give him one of your kidneys it's probably for a good reason, to be perfectly honest i don't think you can convince him.

  2. A few reasons come to mind.

Maybe your to young for it to work in him, or he's afraid you may need it more than he will some day.

I know I would rather die then take the chance that it would put my son or daughter's health at risk.

    Unlikely:

This is a long shot, but maybe your not his kid, and if the Doctor would tell you or him could be devastating to your relationship.

  3. What a wonderful gesture on your part.  I think a medical expert at a University Medical Center could advise and assure your dad.  The medical issue I wonder about is whether your age makes you ineligible?  Maybe, you have checked out the legal angle.  My major point is the typical hospital does not becomes as proactive in the total patient case as University center.  Many of the best in their field are not in medicine for the money.    You will find them at a University Med Center.   Lastly,  your love for your dad demonstrates that there still are some angels walking among us. Bless you and your dad.  Good luck in your efforts.  P.S.  I guess I would like for you to check out the age requirements.  Hope your dad is getting dialysis treatment in between time.

  4. That's so wonderful of you to want to help!!  There are probably age requirements that would prevent you from donating since you're still growing.  Additionally, there would be a better chance of having a proper genetic match from a sibling than from a parent or child.  Parents usually want to give their kids the best chance at a long and healthy life.  He's probably not wanting to take the chance of taking that away from you by accepting your kidney.  Best wishes to your family.
