My dads computer still has pop ups any ideas?

Ok my dad fell for one of those scammed anti virus programs and his computer got jacked up. It went really slow and every second he was online a popup would come up. So then he uninstalled all his anti virus programs and installed a bit defender which made his computer go faster and for one day the popups were gone. But we did nothing and theres just a pop ups like evry minute or so. Any ideas. I asked him if the pop up blocker was on and he said yes. So anyone?Help.

Toss the computer in the garbage and buy a new one.

try a different antispyware program . spyware doctor and spyware terminator are free to download and work good. also try a different homepage or browser if possible. google  and firefox have built in pop up blockers,
