  1. You don't say if he's silly with you or just generally silly with everyone. You might want to ask him that you want to speak with him seriously and explain his behavior is annoying most of the time. He may get a little offended but at lease he should see the mature rationale of your request.

  2. Well, talk to him about it. He may fob it off and think it's all you, so you could get your mum and (maybe) siblings involved too, and if they agree with you, talk to him together.

  3. my dads the exact same way....I'm sooo sorry

  4. My dads like that too....... sorta better than haveing a parent yelling at you all the time

  5. This is normal.  All parents are affected by the hormones their children produce as they approach puberty.  When kids get to be about 11 or 12 years old, their parents start to get dumb.  By the time kids are mid-teens, their parents are the stupidest, most immature, most annoying people on the planet.  By the time kids are 18, they're praying for the day they get out of college and never have to go home again.

So your dad is immature and annoying.  He's going to get worse before he gets better.  And...oops...(I hope you saw this coming)...if you're a p*****n or teenager, you're not exactly the model of maturity or patience or tact either.  You live through these next years by learning to talk with your parents - logically, calmly, without accusations or name-calling - and by developing a sense of humor.

Your dad takes his sense of humor too far sometimes because this is the same stuff you laughed at 6 months ago.  YOU changed, not his sense of humor.  You learn to groan and say, "Dad, that was SO bad."

Your mom and your older siblings are good allies during this time.  They can step in when he gets too far over the top and ask him to tone it down.  They can also help you work out some zingers to toss back at him, and they can just generally help you tolerate him on the days you don't even want to be on the same planet with him.

I promise, sweetie, he won't be like this forever.  It just seems like forever sometimes!
