In my ballet class, my dance partner is about a foot and maybe an inch or two taller than me(I'm five feet and half an inch, he's a little over six feet tall). The problem is that there are only three male dancers in my class, and he's the smallest one.
During nearly every lift we do, he picks me up in the wrong place, or we land in the wrong position. Usually his hands end up around my neck and not my waist.
Anyway, it's really starting to take a toll on both of us, because I keep getting dropped, and I usually land on him, or we both end up on the floor. Is there anything we can do about this?
We've talked about it to our teacher, but she says that there isn't really anything to be done about it, because there aren't any other male dancers, and the other two in my class would just be worse.
