  1. put nail polish on her nails. it taste bad. and most people grow out of biting they're nails when they get older.

  2. Hi

I would buy some lemon juice and about every 30 minutes, dip her finger into it. The taste will shock her and she will most likley stop in at least a week.

  3. may sound mean, but rub them with a mild chilie and she will dislike the taste and that should discourage her, you can improvise with other things she doesent like.

    good luck

  4. I had 5 girls.  First I emphasized to them how pretty and healthy clean nails are.

I gave them each a nail brush to keep them clean.  Last I dipped their nails in rubbing alcohol often.  They hated! the taste and soon quite.  Of course they did not want me to do this and I had to explain how dirty germs that look like small bugs we cannot see were hiding in dirt under the nails.  I insisted that if they were going to put their fingers in their mouths, we had to clean and kill the germs to keep them healthy.  Some people may think this is harsh but it's really meant to help not harm.  If she bites and tears her nail down, she can infect her nail.  She can get candida in her mouth from germs on her fingers and under her nails.  I am sure there is a whole list of problems somehere but these were the ones that concerned me.  I hope this matches your concern,

  5. my mom always told me i did the same type of thing (sucking my thumb) she would put hot sauce on my hands to stop me from doing it... dont worry. it wont hurt her but kids taste are more heightend than ours so by the time she realizes it burns she might not do it again

  6. just tell her that every tyme u do it moommie or daddy is going to take one of ur toyz away

  7. At your local beauty store (i.e.Sally's) they have nail polish that tastes really bitter and its non toxic it should work pretty well just make sure you keep it on her nails.

  8. Slap some poo on hear hands works like a charm trust me she wont be biting her nails.

  9. there is no way to stop her. when she is tired of it she will stop. it might be years till she stops.

  10. give her a kid bi- cycle. she will forget nail biting

  12. Well, don't shout at us!

Sometimes, it doesn't take reprimands.  Circumstances also help to shape habits.  For example, I have two dogs.  One came into the house when she was 2 (she is now 6).  The other is still a puppy.  Neither is allowed to go in the basement because the cats are fed there.  The older dog never went in because for most of her life in this house, the door was shut (with a cat door to accommodate the cats).  When the basement door was replaced (and left open because there was no cat door), she just didn't even think about it.  However, the puppy, who hadn't been in the house for more than a few weeks, went in the basement all the time.  So, we put in a new cat door and shut the basement door.  Now the puppy doesn't go in the basement, even when the door is open, because he isn't used to having access.

Likewise, I have had a bad nail-biting habit for most of my life.  Then I began piano lessons, and I had to keep my nails short.  Since they were clipped too short to bite, I didn't bite them.  I have since stopped taking piano lessons, and I still don't bite my nails, even though I clip them less frequently.

So keep her nails too short to bite.
