My daughter's b-day is july 15, its her first B-day and she is my only child. i want this b-day to be really special but i keep running into problems.

here is what i was thinking: i would have it at a park here in town that has a pond and a playground it had bbq pitts so i would use those. i planned on reserving the 2 tables closest to the playground and putting up a few canopys. i would serve hotdogs. my main delima in the cake. i want to get this amazing cake that looks like a princess castle. its really big though and it wouldn't fit in a ice chest. it gets really hot here (possibly 106) and the cake has a lot of detail and im worried it would melt.. what would you suggest doing?. I thought of moving the party indoors, but my house is not an option. the guest list is already 50+ people. any ideas on were to move the party or how to keep the cake looking great until we are ready for it??? please help, invitations have to go out soon!!!

  1. Put a cover over the cake so it won't melt.

  2. She's one, she doesn't need 50 people first of all and mabye you could have a smaller cake you can buy good ones at Dairy Queen.

    Ok....

You could have it in your back yard and put the cake inside with the air conditioner

  3. Relax, its a bday party!  If you are this worked up now what happen on her wedding day?

See if the bakery can deliver the cake at a certain time?  Or leave it at home and have someone get it and bring it when you are ready for it so its not sitting out.

Ask the bakery for suggestions, they may know a good idea on what to do also

  4. Okay it sounds like your on a roll and everything sounds perfect! But about the cake maybe a bigger [longer, wider] cake would be better...perhaps with a cute full length pic of her if you have any, I think she would just love it!! The location sounds good, but if you would really like to change the place try renting out a gymnasium [so the kids would still have fun jumping around and doing flips] for as long as you need it, they usually have a little food place there, but you can still bring your own food maybe even have it catered! Hope I helped!!!! Please tell me how it goes!! **Im 11 years old**

  5. My son's birthday was always in the hottest part of the year also.  I had the party at the park for his 1st birthday, but then I moved it to a pizza parlor.  It really wasn't that expensive buy the pizza, soda's and beer (if you want to if not have them buy their own) and have the kids play video games to keep them busy.  I don't remember the cost but Chuck E Cheese is always fun and has the birthday package.  Also they have big enough refridgerators to handle your cake if you ask them ahead of time.  Good Luck

  6. Relax.  First of all, make sure you are planning a birthday that your daughter will enjoy.  A long barbecue in brutal heat with 50 people is probably not it...

I used to hold my kids' early birthday parties in the morning, since toddlers are usually most charming before noon!  Maybe you want to move the party earlier and have the cake before the peak heat of the day and then send her home with a sitter for her nap?  Then you can enjoy the rest of the party.

Get a pretty cake that is smaller and fits in the cooler and supplement with cupcakes or simple sheetcake.
