My daughter and my friends daughter are fighting?

I am very good friends with this woman. We do a lot together. I have seen how my daughter's friend treats my daughter, and I would say she is the "alpha" friend. But she does not treat her very well. For example, my daughter witnessed her "friend" talking badly about her to another friend over the phone. This is when they went at it today at lunch (where they both sat at seperate tables). I suppose my daughter must have won the fight because her friend went home and told her mother that my daughter had turned the whole school against her. I told her I was not going to make my daughter apologize for this when it was not her fault. So my friend hung up on me and is now very upset. I dont know what to do?
