My daughter came home from

my daughter came home from college and we tried to hook her acer laptop (with vista home basic) up to our ethernet connection. My laptop is hooked up to it and also our desktop. Hers wont just be connected to the internet by plugging the ethernet cable in the back of it. It keeps wanting a password and ISP provider. My cable modem doesnt require these things and our other comps (which run on XP) didnt make us type these things in. There is no way to bypass this and I am very very frustrated.
