It has been about 2.5 hours since they were pulled,We have changed the gauze every 30 minutes like the dentist said .How can we stop the bleeding so she can get some rest. It seems like when she falls asleep it is time to change the gauze AGAIN we are out of gauze from the dentist

  1. use a wet tea bag...there's a natural chemical in tea that helps clot the blood to slow the bleeding. or when out of gauze....just use tissue cut a new sock up....or a handkerchief....the teabag does work...don't let her panic...that increases blood flow...and bleeding...don't let her talk while trying to clot the blood....don't drink while doing so either ...it won't let the blood clot...give it a few hours with the tea bag on her open socket...it will stop...i've been there, trust me. the blood starts to make you sick at your stomach...but you're not aloud to spit..as it could cause a dry socket...where when it has clotted finally that clot gets sucked out leaving adry bed where the tooth waspulled and since it is no longer bleeding, it is unbearbale...pain. don't spit, drink with a straw, smoke, brush that "tooth" spot till it is well into closing up. If she is biting too hard on the gauze too, itcould be stimulating the spot to still bleed.....lighten up  little to slow it down. any more questions...email me at reneharkins555@yahoo.com........glad to help. try the teabag....cold

  2. Try biting down on a slightly wetted tea bag.  Tea has tannic acid in it, which is a natural coagulant.  If that doesn't work, you may need to go back to the dentist to have something done at the extraction sites locally to get them to stop bleeding.

  3. They will bleed for a while. It probably will not slw down for another 24 hours. I had all 4 pulled out at the same time. It is very painful. It is all normal ....so wait another 24 hours.

  4. It may not really be bleeding as far as you can see blood oozing out from the socket. It could be lott f salivation mixed with lil blood which could wet the gauze. Put a gauze and ask her to clench on it .. The bleeding will stop. Nothing to worry as far as she doesnt have a history of non stop bleeding generally. She can go to sleep and dont bother to change the gauze. Apply a cold pack on her cheek and dont panic .. Just remember not to spit.. She has to swallow the saliva. Dont worry she wil be ok.. Take care !

  5. It will bleed a bit for the next couple of days - go to the drugstore and get some gauze pads  - the sterile kind - it's the same stuff.

If it's still bleeding this much by morning, then call the dentst back -they may have to cauterize it.

If she's as drugged out as my daughter was after the teeth out, she'll sleep just fine between changes.

  6. THAT IS NOT GOOD! ive had loadsa teeth out and they stopped bleeding before i even left the dentist

  7. If you have any tea bags (black tea like Lipton), you can place them like a poultice on the site of the extraction. Dampen a tea bag and place it on each of the openings where the teeth were removed. This should stop the bleeding.

  8. The bleeding should slow, but it might bleed lightly for another day or two.  If it continues to be this heavy you should call the doctor though.

This might help you.  I've been researching since my wisdom teeth will be removed soon.

Wisdom teeth removal is much different than  normal teeth pull, so as long as the bleeding slows a bit within the next couple hours you should be fine.
