  1. MRSA is unfortunately becoming a relatively common bug now. It can be treated with Vancomycin.

Risk of dying from MRSA sepsis (Blood infection) depends mostly on the age and otherwise health of your daughter. If she is young and otherwise healthy, chances are good (>95%) that she will make it.

My advice to everyone is, its the doctors job to look out for the worst scenario, its yours to hope for the best scenario. keep a positive outlook and don't be afraid to ask questions...

  2. MRSA, or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, is a bacteria that is very common in hospitals and is becoming more common in the general public.  It has been diagnosed and treated with antibiotics for decades.  When the right antibiotics are used, the infection often resolves without complications.

That being said, there is a risk of death with blood-stream infections, in studies generally around 10-15%.  This should be taken with a grain of salt as most patients who develop this infection have been in the hospital before and may have other reasons to be sick.

The best way to increase the chances of survival and decrease the risks of complications is to take antibiotics as directed until treatment is complete.

If the bacteria can be cleared from the blood, one dangerous complication to be screened is endocarditis, or infection of the heart valves.  This should be evaluated by echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) sometime during or after treatment.

  3. I HAVE TO SAY....MAYBE!

    sorry to hear that............................

  4. Not necessarily. Vancomycin + supportive therapy helps.

  5. What does her doctor say about this?  Is she being treated with antibiotics?  Is she at home?  In hospital?  You really haven't given us much to go on here.

  6. Yeah. What has her docter said. This might be important.
