I want to get her into a place like sullivan's or something of the like to help her. But I'm not working and I can't afford it. Someone told me about SC grants that would help but I don't know where to start.. Her school has her in IEP classes, but they said she needs more. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  1. Talk to the school social workers, my daughter is a social worker in Illinois for the school district and she has been a big help to some parents. Just let them know you need help and they will do all they can for you and your daughter.

  2. Many schools have after school tutoring programs for kids for free funded by and staffed by local grants and volunteer agencies utilizing AmeriCorps volunteers, Volunteers of America, Boy scouts, even local college students as tutors.

Talk to your daughters school counselors for more information.... I doubt you will find anyone to help pay for a place like Sylvan.... it would be easier to just get a job to pay her tuition there.

Also, if you are not working, you might consider buddying up with the special ed teacher and get coached in doing this sort of assistance with your daughter yourself... no one will be more committed to helping her than you.
