Is it for soccer? If it is it's nothing special, almost all of the girls get "selected" so if you cannot afford it don't feel bad.

I would start sending letters out to organisations asking for sponsorship.

A girl at my work place is in the same boat she has been selected to play for Aus in hockey and her family and friends have been doing heaps of fundraisers to raise money to get her to Singapore this year.
