My daughter has been running a fever since Saturday and it is almost constant. I have been giving her tylenol to keep it down but it just doesn't seem to want to go away! I am very worried about her. She also has a rash around her mouth and below her eyes and has tiny red bumps all over her body. I took her to the doctor Monday and the doc could not find anything wrong with her. She said the rash seemed minor(it wasn't flared up at the time) and the bumps didn't look like a cause for concern. The fever is still unexplained, she took a sample of her urine and said it could take 2-3 days to find anything out. I don't want my daughter sitting here with a fever for 2-3 more days, this is ridiculous. She did have her shots about 12 days ago, but the doc said it was too late too be having a reaction to them, although the injection site also has flared up at the same time the fever started. She doesn't act like anything is bothering her. I've tried looking in her mouth to see if it could be related to teething also but I am not too sure. Up until today she was eating fine, all day today she just picked at her food and didn't eat too much, though she did very well with her bottles and her cups. BTW, she is 13 months old. Another thing that I have noticed within the past week is her increased thirst. Normally she would consume about 15 oz of water and juice a day and now it has gone up to about 40 oz a day. I mentioned this to the dr as well, she thought it was strange but still did not seem concerned. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Any suggestions? She's had a fever for 4 days now...can it last that long if she really is only teething??

  1. As she still hasn't improved I would take her back to the doctor or even to a hospital. Increased thirst could be a concern but it depends on how high her temp has been and have much she is urinating. I assume you have been giving her baths to try to lower her temp.

Good Luck and I hope there is nothing major wrong. It can be amazing what teeth can do - all kids are different.

  2. I just got my babies shots done today and they gave me this pamphlet, hope this helps!

  3. I think at this point I would go to the ER. They have better access to better tests...best of luck Im sure she is okay...

  4. GO TO THE ER NOW! DO NOT WAIT! My son got menigitis back in April and could've died. He had a sever fever and wasn't acting normal. They took a spinal tap and sure enough he had menigitis. It was the worst thing I've ever been through in my life. He had tubes put in his ears just today because from him getting sick he had a hearing loss. I would go ASAP.
