  1. Ok first off the first thing you always have to do is put the numbers in order from least to greatest.

    ex: 5, 9, 8, 6, 4,

          4, 5, 6, 8, 9,

    The mean is the average.

    ex: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9,

    4, 8, 16, 20=48

then you divide the answer by the number of numbers you added.

so.  48 divided by 4 (because there are 4 number that you added.) is 12.

The mode is the most numbers.

    ex:4, 4, 8, 16, 4

The mode would be 4 because there are more of them then any other number. If there are 2 numbers that there are the most of write them both down.

The median is the middle number so again put them in order from least to greatest (always do this first though.)

    ex: 1, 2, 3 ,4, 5,

3 is the median because it is the middle number.

If it is a even number like

                                      1, 4, 7, 10, that write down both 4 and 7.

The range is range between the numbers.

        ex: 1, 6, 7, 8, 10. subtract 10 from 1 and that is the range.

The line plot is where she draws the line on a sheet of paper. Like rise over run.

    ex: 1,4,7,8

She will have a piece of gride paper and she will have to go up 1 across 4 like that. (Or something like that. It is really hard to explain without a piece of gride paper. you may want to just look it up on the computer on google or something. It should always be a diagonal line or a straight line never anything else.)

Knowing that that problems should be easy to do.

    Hope I helped good luck!

but I'll do them anyways (it makes me feel smart.)

    1.

    3,9,16,30,32,36,38,41,42,45, 52.

Mean:37.27 with a little line over it

    mode.none

    median :36

    range:49

    2.

    2,2,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,6,9,10,12

mean:5.3 with a line over it because it goes on forever.

    mode: is 4

    median:4

    range: 10

    3.

    1,2,3,3,4,5,5,6,7,8,

    mean:4.4

    mode: 3 and 5

    median: 4 and 5

    range: 7

You may want to do some over because it is kinda hard to do on the computer.

And if you daughter struggels with this stuff these would be really good notes! :D Good luck!

  2. 1.

    I'll use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 for demonstrating

    Mean: Add up all the numbers.  1 + 2 +3 +4 +5 = 15.  Divide by the number of numbers you added.  15/5 = 3

Mode: The number that occurs most often in the numbers.  This one, they all have one number.  But if it were 1, 1, 2, 3, 4 the mode would be 1.

Median: The middle number.  If the numbers were 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 you would cross out 1 and 5, then 2 and 4.  Your median would be 3.

Range: The difference between the lowest and highest values.  So 5 - 1 = 4.  4 would be your range.

    Line plot: No idea, sorry.

    2)

Put all the numbers in numerical order and then use the definitions to figure it out.

  3. the mean is the adverage of all the numbers

the mode is the number that appears the most, if there isn't one then there is no mode.

the median is the middle number when put in order from least to greatest (just think median is in the middle just like when you are driving)

the range is the difference between the highest and lowest numbers

and a line plot is when you plot out how many times a number appears. follow this link to help you understand that http://ellerbruch.nmu.edu/classes/cs255w...

you should be able to do the problems listed cause i just told you how to do them. first start by putting them all in order, that will help alot. good luck!

  4. You have a daughter and you do not understand mean, median, mode, and range? Far be it from me to question the intelligence of people I guess, because there are different types of knowledge. here, take a look at this link:

  5. Mean: the average. Take the sum of a set of numbers and divide by the amount in the set.

Mode: the most represented value in a set - the one there is most of

    median - the middle number

range- the distance between the lowest and highest values in a set, get by subtracting the lowest from the highest.

line plot- a visual representation of numerical values along a line going from lowest to highest value

  6. Mean is all the numbers added together and then dived by the number of numbers added

Mode is the number repeated the most

meadian is the number in the middle once numbers are in order from least to greatest

range is the smallest number subtracted from the greatest number.

    2#

    1.Mean:34

    Mode:N/A

    Median:36

    Range:43

    2.Mean:5.3

    Mode:4

    Median:5

    Range:10

    3.Mean:4.4

    Mode:5 and 3

    Meadian:5

    Range:7
