  1. No. In the state of Texas, the age of majority is 17. That means that your daughter is legally an adult and cannot be the complainant for a charge of statutory rape. Sorry. I'm sure that you are frustrated by the situation, but unfortunately, there is no legal recourse.

  2. What's the big deal. 5 years age difference when the girl is 17 really isn't such a big thing. Look at Jerry Lee Lewis or Elvis.

At 17 if your daughter isn't mature enough to deal with a relationship with someone of 22 then I would say that you have done a poor job of bringing her up and preparing her for the world. Look what Joan of Arc acheived at the age of 14.

  3. I believe the age of consent in Texas is 17. If that is the case, then the answer is NO.

Also, a charge of statutory rape requires that sexual activity be proven. Either your daughter or the boyfriend would have to verify that or someone would have had to have witnessed the sexual activity and be willing to testify.

Just dating does not qualify as sexual activity.

EDIT: I stand corrected on the age of consent! Thought it was 16 in Texas. I have modified my answer to reflect that correction.

  4. The state will not pick up charges because the legal age of consent is 16. On the other hand you can press charges. one because he is over 18 and two because he is 4 or more years older than her. You may not get really far i might add because it is consentual.

  5. No. The penal code considers 17 an adult in that situation . The other answers about the age of consent being 16 are inaccurate.

  6. NOPE. She is legally an adult here and can date anyone over the age of 17.
