My daughter is 23 weeks pregnant and been happy in her work until now. She feels she is being discriminated because she is pregnant. She has always sufferd from mild asthma, no one would ever notice. but 2 weeks ago she suffered some nasty attacks which resulted in going to hospital and having to take steriods. She took 2 days off work, on returning she was told that she is too ill to work there and should make a decision and that because she hadnt told them she had asthma they didnt believe thats why she was off work. Since them the atmosphere has been very strained and she feels they are trying to make her walk out so that they dont have to pay maternity. She only has 8 weeks left at work but is there anything legally she can do after she leaves and has got her maternity pay for compensation of this treatment. Its causing her a great deal of stress every day.

  1. If she can collect as much evidence as possible of the discrimination and witnesses if possible then she should be able to have them done for discrimination and there are laws in place to protect pregnant women from this

  2. Document the exact interaction...conversation...and the date and time. The courts love this, it adds credibility.

She does not need to inform them of any medical condition, unless it could compromise her safety.

I am more concerned that she is 23 weeks and they gave her steroids.

    But...documentation is the best weapon.

    Best Wishes
