It seems like we try everything and any type of food and she doesn't want it! She won't eat baby food anymore, she will eat yogurt and organic cookies...she eats oatmeal for breakfast. I am concerned that she isn't getting the vitamins that she needs?? any suggestions???

  1. Just keep trying different things.  You could buy one of those toddler cook books to try and get different ideas.

My son was the same way and it drove me insane to all end.  Most kids don't eat EVERYTHING -- they more than likely will have a handful of things they like to eat and will stick with that rotation.

She'll more than likely outgrow that phase and will venture into new foods.  If you really feel that strong about getting her to try new things, give her something new (like soup or spaghetti-os) with no yougurt, cookies or oatmeal.  Tell her that's her dinner/lunch and either it's that or nothing.  Don't give her the only foods that she'll eat, eventually she'll get hungry enough where she'll try new things.

  2. OHH the picky eating stage. SO common.

Here's the thing. Babies don't have control over much in their life....but they can control what does in their mouths. So if you make a big deal out of her not eating, she will continue to not eat.

Most babies go through this phase. It's normal. She won't starve herself. You should continue to offer her foods of all different types and reoffer her foods she's previously rejected ( she can decide at any point that she likes them). NEVER make a special dinner or lunch just for her. You are her mommy and you love her, but she can eat what you make or she doesn't eat. Obviously, you wouldn't make something you know she truly dislikes. Eventually she will out grow this.

Try your best not to make this a big deal. If she rejects dinner,  that's ok! Tell her that you are putting her plate in the fridge and she can have it if she;s hungry. Also, try ketchup or ranch dressing as dips. There isn't anything wrong with adding a little extra flavor if it helps her to eat more.

Good luck! You can do this!

  3. Get a vitamin supplement for babies. She will eat when she gets hungry. My three year old goes in spurts not eating then eating all the time.

  4. I remember this phase!!!!

We learned that ketchup goes on everything. And we used phrases like "chicken yummy". He also likes pizza and will eat anything in a round shape. And it's true what they say, she will not starve herself.

Just find foods she likes and expand on those, she likes oatmeal so mix other things in with it. Try sweet potatoes or mushed carrots. It doesn't sound like she likes bad for her foods so I wouldn't worry.
