My daughter is going to Paris in Sep 08. Does anyone knows where to get affordable accomodation?

She will be heading to a University in Paris called Science PO. Except for tuition, everything else is out of the pocket expenses. Would very much apppreciate if anyone can tell me how I can get affordable and safe accomodation for her. Thanks a lot!

She should contact the University as well because they should be able to give her information on student housing.

There are lot's of other regions , but this will give you an idea.

Generally , the cheapest places are in the poorer areas - but become more expensive closer to the tourist areas - stay outside a little , travel by metro and save a few Euros

In general, the farther out from the city center, the more reasonable the accomodations will be.   Also, Paris is quite safe outside of times when riots are occuring.  Crimes there center more around pickpocketing rather than muggings or assaults.

I would strongly recommend finding an apartment, even for a short-term rental, than a hotel.  It'll be considerably cheaper.  There are lots of web sites.  Here's one  http://www.paristay.com/
