My daughter is like 1/4 of Spanish origin and knows nothing about Spanish culture - but now wants a quinceanos

party in a few years. Of course she'll also want a sweet 16. Should I just indulge her?

No way,have you seen those spoiled kids on MTV whose parents throw them outlandish partys,there rotten people,the kids and the parents,save the cash for college or her wedding.

Sounds like just a party to her if y'all have taught her nothing about her spanish culture.  I would do the 16 if she deserved it.  A Quinceanera is not just a big party it has alot of traditions that make the party what it is.  So if y'all don't know yourselves what it is about then it's just another party.

She can have a quinceanos or a sweet sixteen, but not both. And not anything from MTV, something reasonable that fits your budget.

I think it is nice she wants to learn more about your or your parent's culture. If she is going for the quinecera she needs to actually learn something about the culture. If she is not interested she can wait a year for the gift grab.

Well you should tell your daughter to learn about her spanish origin and both of you can learn about it together...also have her decide if she wants her 15 or 16 because both mean the same thing....Thats what I think...

Have her learn about the culture that could make it really meaningful. Just don't throw a party just for the purpose of paring.
