I have twin girls, one eats and the other doesn't. The picky eater "hates food", i dont know why. She is 14 months old, and still takes her bottle only twice a day (nap and bedtime), but refues food. I have to give her a toy to eat a spoon. She has been like that for a while but her sister eats everything but little. What should i do, should i cut off her bottle. I am worried if i cut off her bottle she wouldn't eat period. What should i do? thanks

  1. My daughter is the same! She is so picky and never wants to eat! Its a stage all children go through at some point, she'll grow out of it..

  2. my daughter is the same she hardly ears anything, thy will though in their own time

  3. First of all, when she is hungry she will eat. Kids don't starve themselves. I have a 5 years and a 15 months old daughters. They both were same way. I was getting so much upset at every meal when they don't eat. Now, they take little more time, but they eat all meals regularly. You should start with breakfast. Put your little one in a high chair. Give her a toy or start her show on TV, may be you can sing her a song while you feed her. If she does not want to eat, put her down. Do not give milk or any other food. At lunch time give her same thing that your were giving her for breakfast. Kids are smart, sometimes they try to manipulate you. She will eat surely. Trust me it works. Do this for couple of days. You will thank me later.

  4. i would consider not giving her the bottle until she eats something, my daughter's pediatrician told me to try to find something she likes, like pancakes or waffles, maybe a fruit, then if she eats you give her the bottle, it worked for me!

  5. well my 5 year old cousin is like that. he eats like twice a day, and his sister who is 13 months older than him eats almost anything you give her.

i dont really know what you should do, maybe try to cut off he bottle(i mean she has to get hungry eventually) but if she deosnt eat anything give it back to her.

  6. Every child is different, but they are all the same in one respect, they will not starve themselves! My daughter goes from eating like a horse one week to eating one PB&J and a handful of crackers in two days. On top of that she'll only eat a few different foods, she is very picky. What I've learned from this is that it's our responsibility as a parents to decide where, when and what your child is going to eat but it's their responsibility to eat it. If you do cut back on the bottles then of course she will eat more, she is too young to do a hunger strike ;)

  7. my two nieces are like this yes their different ages one just turned 2 and one just turned 5 but their exactly the same. the 2 year old will eat anything and the 5 year old wont eat a thing. its hard to get a child to eat when their so small. but try a bunch of different food that are colorful and in different shapes. and explore the colors and shapes with both of them. eat with her and show that you really like the food as well. but of course thats if their on table foods yet =] i would say maybe cut the bottle back from nap time but not bed time. but thats just my opinion
