  1. When my son turned 1 we had a big party for family and friends.  There were a lot of adults, and most of the kids ranged from 1 - about 5 or so.  One thing that I did for everyone was print out lots of coloring sheets for free from the internet and put together a little coloring book for each child.  Our theme was western/cowboy so all of the images had to do with that.  I think I had 4 or 5 sheets of coloring pages stapled together with a cute cover that I made up, one for each child.  I also had lots and lots of crayons.  You can buy cheap big boxes of 64 crayons and dump them onto paper plates or into bowls and let everyone share them or get inexpensive individual smaller boxes for each child.  I also took Polaroid pictures of each child as they came in and put them onto their individualized "Wanted" posters that they took home when they left (along with cowboy themed goody bags).  When they got there they also got a cowboy hat, a stick-on moustache, a sheriff's star pin and a bandana.  As for food, we had hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw and cake as well as drinks.  I had bowls of animal crackers on each table as well as individually wrapped Twizzlers licorice.  I also made up a lot of my own decorations and "cowboy" signs.  It was a fun, easy party, and I think that everyone had a great time.  I love a good theme and to have a great time, but I hate to spend a ton of money so I try to be as creative as humanly possible.  I would suggest that you designate someone you trust to take pictures for you and someone else that you trust to videotape the party if you want that done.  You'll be WAY too busy with the guests and food and your child.  And definitely have a special cake just for your one year old to destroy/eat!  Oh - have a large t-shirt or something to slip over her party outfit when she eats her cake!  You'll be glad you did it!  A friend gave me a large onesie for my son to wear that she'd embroidered with a cupcake with a candle on it and the words "What Fun!  Ben is One!"  Most importantly - HAVE FUN!  This only happens once!

  2. Some good things to have:

    coloring pages/books and crayons

    bubbles

    kids music

    Ideas for games to play:

    musical chairs

    simon says

pin the tail on the donkey

    breaking open a pinata

freeze dance- play music everyone dances; stop the music everyone freezes

    hot potato

Pass The Box -Take a small gift or toy that all kids would enjoy, then gift wrap it, but keep wrapping it with different layers of giftwrap. Play some music while passing the present around, when the music stops, the guest left holding it unwraps the first layer of wrapping paper, then the music starts again and the box is passed, then every time the music stops, another layer is removed until someone finally unwraps the very last layer and that is the winner. It is kind of like Hot Potato, but everyone wants the box.

Limbo- objective: Pass under the limbo stick without touching it.  Two players hold up a limbo stick (usually a broom handle), and the rest of the players form a line and pass under it. Players are not allowed to touch the limbo stick, and they cannot have any body part but their feet touch the floor. At first this is easy, but after each player has gone under once, lower the limbo stick before the players pass through again. The game continues this way, with the limbo stick being lowered each time. If a player accidentally touches the limbo stick or the floor, he's out. The last player left doing the limbo wins.

    -duck, duck, goose

    Activity ideas:

-You could have sugar cookies in different shapes.  Let the kids decorate their own cookie.  Have different colored icings, sprinkles and sanding sugars.

-a craft project- all the kids make something

For the little kids under 3, you should have some toys and books for them to play with.  Otherwise, they might get bored.

    Have a great time!

  3. if it starts on 6 p.m. so you can have 30 - 60 minutes that you wait until everyone comes. in this time you can open the food (but not the cake) and drinks on the table so everyone can eat. than everyone can write a greetings. i not understand but if there a kids from 1-9 so they can draw a picture and you'll do an album from it and save this to show her in the future this album, and the you can take all the time for dancing and eating and i really recommending you to rent a mobile bar

  4. you could try musical chairs- though the little ones might not understand the whole thing. I would just bring some toys-balls, blocks, trucks/cars so the kids have something to play with.

play kids music for them some of the kids might dance around.

If you want your daughter to have any memories of her 1st b-day. take lots of pictures and maybe even a video.

At this age though they really have no idea what is going on. make sure you have a smash cake just for her-thats the best pictures you will get-when she is sticking her fingers in the cake, or her face LOL
