  1. I am sorry for your predicament - However just visiting a normal optomologist is not the only answer- You have to take her to a plastic surgeon who does eye corrections and get his advise You do not mention if its her eye ball or her lids- If its the lids then ( I recommend Dr. Marco Aureilo Faria Correa ( if you are living in Singapore)  He has consulting rooms at the Camden medical center-  He is the best you can get--His chief nurses'  tel # is 91761813 call her and ask her if he can help in your case and then make an  appointment- He will be able to advise you& also maybe able to guide you to the right doctor--

If you type in his name in your search engine, google or Yahoo you will get all the info you need on this wonderful surgeon

As she is just 4 you may have to wait for some years maybe for this kind of surgery ( my opinion) Of course she will be  normal in every other way -

BE BRAVE, & do not show your tears and anguish to your little one, you do not want her to start thinking something is wrong and she is not normal or such-She is NORMAL

    Good luck

  2. yes she will be a normwal baby. she will live like normal babies do

  3. people with 1 eye are just as normal

encourage your daughter and be optimistic instead of feeling

    SORRY FOR YOURSELF

    AND MAKING HER FEEL BAD

    and go see a doctor

  4. Hi Aruna,

If your daughter has Duane's Syndrome there is every chance that she will have a normal life.   I have it and I am over 40 years old now and I have had a wonderful life so far.  For most people it is more of an inconvenience then anything else.  When she goes to school or to a movie theater it might be easier for her to sit on one side of the room. In addition, some sports might be more challenging for her than for other children.

If you can manage it, you should see a good Pediatric Opthamologist.

Some times in young children with Duane's they want the child to wear an eye patch and there may also be a surgical option as well.  The surgery can not totally correct the problem but can definitely help.

There is a wonderful Yahoo Group for Duane's Syndrome that is full of uiinformation and support.   It is located here:

    Good luck!

  5. it sounds as thought your daughter is happy and healthy

it you who is worried about her appearence

having a turned eye isnt a major thing and i think if you look at it in a negative way she will learn to aswell

just treat her as you would if it wasnt there

  6. She will be alright not big deal just left eye muscle don’t work or is lazy to turn eye, its ok but also u can play with her kind of game like moving pen or special of her favourites toy around to make eye fallow them.

  7. The Down syndrome is not the same as Duane's Syndrome. The first is a chromosome disorder caused by an extra 21st chromosome, while the latter is a congenital eye problem.

Although the cause may be genetic, there's no need to give up hope before trying. Even after trying, there's no need to give up hope because there's always the possibility that some smart person might come up with a good solution.

The Duane's Syndrome has similarities with people who see better with one eye than the other (also known as a lazy eye). Eye specialists then recommend to cover the better eye for a long duration (lets say half a year). This way, the brain will be forced to rely on the weaker eye solely. This method could just be the solution you're looking for your daughter.
