  1. Oh man! well this is your problem: GM cars especially flagship ones like olds and buicks and cadilliacs from the 90's have what is called VATS chips on their keys which means that you just cant call someone to get keys made for it. (the chip is that black bump with the silver slit in it right after the grip) you can, but the car wont even turn over it needs that code to start. your best be would be putting it on a trailer and taking it to a Buick dealership. they can help you with the issue.

    Good Luck

ps though it may cost alot it but it is the only option like the only option

  2. The easiest thing to do is go to your local GM dealer, take proof the car is till yours, Give them your VIN. They can produce a key for you that is cut correctly. I have no idea what this costs but, it definitely will be cheaper than replacing all of your locks and ignition tumbler.

  3. Take the VIN number to a gm dealership and if the ignition switch is the original they will be able to cut you a key for your car.

If it is not the original switch you can get a locksmith to get a key for your car but it will cost you a lot more.

  4. change all lock cylinders and ignition switch or call a mobile lock smith to come out and make a new key

  5. at this point you only have 1 option that i can see, call a locksmith bet you have a spare set made now huh?

  6. By proving ownership at your nearest GM dealer should do the trick. Usually a better cut key can be acquired at a reputable locksmith. If you decide the latter, politely ask the dealer for the " key-code " for your vehicle, and take that to the locksmith, who should be able to provide you with " 1st generation " keys. Also, if there was a " VATS " chip in the old keys, the correct one must be determined as well. In that case, it may be cheaper to call a mobile locksmith, than to pay for a tow to the dealer as well as their service charge.

  7. if the keys were coded you have to to to a dealer...actually you probably have to go to a dealer or the place where you bought the car to get the blueprint for a new key
