a nice dress, floor length, formal.  (almost positive, sorry if i'm wrong).  my friend's school had a winter cotillion and it was basically a dance that you got really dressed up for, something like a cinderella dress.  tell her to ask the others what they're wearing, that way you can't really go wrong
