My daughter not yet started walking/talking/teething?

My daughter has jsut completed one year. Till now she's not started talking.walking and teething. She walks only one and half steps and sits. She utters few words but can't talk. Her teething also not yet started yet and we are worried.

Our elder daughter who's 5 now, had started walking when she was 10 months old. Teething was when she was 7and half mths old. Talking also happened almost at one year.

One yr old is perfectly healthy and active. She understands most of our talks. She looks very normal and so say the doctor. But we've not yet approached anyone about the above doubts that we have.

Pls let us know whether it's normal that such delay takes place or we need to do something.

-worried father.

  1. 6months to a year and a half is the normal age for walking/teething/. If after a year and half its still not there, it's still normal. Just slow brain development, happens to half of children.

  2. is your daughter's weight more than average..Sometimes if a kid is healthier then she takes time to walk..My son also started walking when he was 11/2 yrs old.. so not to worryat all. Each kid is different so there is no point comparing them..Have you given her any teether or toy keys to bite.. it really helps..

dont worry about her talking problem...try to converse with her most of the time ...and u know my neice started talking when she was 3..we all get tensed that time and now she talks non stop..so dont worry about these things at all..take care

  3. This much of talking and walking is quite ok. Anyway she has started the process of both. It will develop slowly. We can't expect the change all of a sudden. she is only a child. As far as possible, when she wants anything make her ask for it and make her go and get it by herself like a toy or a cup, etc. Also, induce her to speak like, what did you do today, what did you eat, do you like it, etc. If we speak to her ony, she will get the interest to answer us. Young children learn mostly by questioning only - why this, how to do this, Where is it, etc. This teething is only the concern now, I think you better consult a doctor for this. May be some calcium defieciency. Otherwise no problem, as i think.

  4. I don't think that you should be too concerned. I have a 13 month old daughter who is just starting to get the feel for walking. Some babies do not start walking till they are 18 months and some even older! For a baby to be walking at 9 or 10 months is great, but it is not so common.  My girl  only has 4 teeth but I have talked to other moms who had kids who still had no teeth by one. I'd worry about having them all come in at the same time! lol...well it wouldn't be a concern, but she may be a bit fussy. As for the talking, it could be 18 months before a baby says her first word. If she has a pacifier all the time that can delay her speech. Also, the amount of time you spend talking to her and interacting with her also contributes to this.

  5. Unless the doctor says something about this odd delay.... Then I wouldn't worry about it. Some signs about teething is when she refuses her food.

  6. shes fine. so some kids catch on faster than others. my brother didn't talk until the age of about 2. as far as walking goes she is giving it a try. some kids are slower learners than others.and teething happens differently for everyone. if shes healthy then you have nothing to worry about

  7. Well, my sister didn't start walking until she was 3 years old. I guess some learn faster than others, but I don't think you should worry too much

I hope that helps a little.

  8. I think you no need to worry too much. I just read a book say that we as a parent should not always compare our child progress with other children, because all the child development is different. Yet all these children will be developing normally. As long as the doctor say is healthy and normal, should be fine.

  9. Everyone grows at different rates. I didn't start talking until I was like 2 and a half. My parents were worried, but when I started talking, they couldn't get my to stop. I'm guessing that when she starts one/all of these concerns, they will just take off.

  10. I don't think it is abnormal. It is not regular, but kids do things at their own pace. The only way to know if it is not ok is to talk to the doctor and if you don't agree, talk to a second one. There are also places that will help with any delays. Your doctor can refer you to them in your area. They should refer you to them if you request even if they don't think she is delayed. I don't think it is possible to make a guess over the internet. When I was a kid, there was another girls little sister who did not speak until she was four years old. Then she came out talking in paragraphs. She was reading chapter books by the time she was five. She also had her older sister who did all of the talking for her. Talking is really really early at 1 year. It is usually closer to 2 years and walking is usually about 13-14 months. Teething is usually 6-9 months. So, that is the only thing that is at all delayed. If the teeth can be felt beneath the gums, or seen beneath them, then it is probably ok.

  11. don't worry there is nothing wrong with you're little girl that is very normal, some baby's start early and some start late just hang tight it will all start to happen soon.

  12. I would consult a specialist about your kid.  I don't think its normal but some one els might have a explanation for it.  I would be worried too.

  13. then u should be happy na....why u bein' sad?

  14. Same Promblem is going

  15. Second children sometimes don't walk or talk until later because they don't have to.  Your older daughter probably does a lot of her talking for her and gets her anything she wants.  Lots of kids don't walk until after they are one...I think you're worrying for nothing.

  16. Unless the doctor says something about this you don't worry so much.

It will come little bit late. my friend kid   same problem now every thing is ok.

  17. All kids are different, some start talking and walking earlier than others, and even among siblings the difference in the time that they reach those milestones could be big. by what you say, your baby is alert and well, she may just be a late bloomer.

Consult your Pediatrician, he or she will answer your questions and most probably take away your worries.

  18. The son of a friend had no teeth until he was 15 months old and then 4 arrived in 6 days.

My oldest daughter would not crawl but use to roll everywere she went and then went straight to walking.

Every child is different. Give it time and enjoy before you know it they will be at school and then leaving home

  19. my 7 year old started walking with help at 8 months..But my 11 month old is kinda delayed too she has some teeth but can't say alot of words and she doesn't walk either..I think every child's different in their own way so just give her more time and they all of a sudden she will fly then you'll wish she didn't walk..Hang in there
