She only likes certain shows though. Mostly the Noggin cartoons and shows like Blues Clues. Should I be worried?

  1. What the h**l? No, that isnt wrong, if it gets to the point where it's 8+ hours a day, then take TV away.

  2. It depends on how old she is. If she's about 18 months you should begin to limit her television and steer her toward physical activity. But the occasional educational or fun show won't hurt her!

Try PBS kids in the morning. The shows are all very educational but entertaining at the same time. Dora the Explorer is also a great option.

Another thing to avoid is letting her mindlessly eat while she's watching the TV. Keep mealtimes TV free so she doesn't develop bad habits later.

  3. no girl, you shouldn't be worried. as long as shes watching something educational on tv its ok. my kids have picked up so much from noggin, pbs kids and other stations. its good for them to an extent, as long as shes not infront of the tv 24/ 7 then its ok, make sure shes not eating infront of the tv, kids that do that tend to gain weight. make sure she still is getting plenty of excercise and that your spending plenty of time with her. you'll be amazed at what she will learn from watching tv. good luck and take care.

  4. why should you be worried? shes a child, let her have her fun while she can. BUT if it gets out of control, then you should maybe do something about it. do stuff with her more to keep her mind off of t.v, or just take it away, or have a limit in watching t.v. use ur brain, and ull find it simple :] ur welcome.

  5. your worried because she loves tv?

A LOT of kids love tv.

i dont see why you are so worried about it.

  6. she sounds young...you shouldnt be worried ...just make sure she does other stuff then just watch tv

  7. There is nothing wrong with loving television. Monitor the length of time she watches, her snacking when she watches, and how often she watches the television.  Try to find shows that will encourage you daughter to participate physically as well.  If she snacks and watches tv, make sure its healthy snacks, if she old enough she can even assist you in making the snacks.  If its a everyday all day thing....turn the tv off and replace the activity with something that will get her thinking and moving.

  8. so your concerened because your daughter watches cartoons?

  9. Not unless she spends hours and hours sitting on the couch with her eyes glued to the television. It's a natural stage for kids to be obsessed with television, (later on comes the computer and boys).

How old is she? I also remember my baby cousin spent hours everyday stuck in front of the television watching Blues Clue, and she would only come down for meals. It's natural for kids to have a favourite television show that they watch everyday or every week. (I know, I did too ;;;)

Well, good luck. If you're still worried, try getting her interested in different things and to participate in extra circular activities (such as swimming, or basketball), that way, she has less time for television. ♥♥

  10. i dont think u should b worried cuz dose show teach kids stuff and alot of kids love t.v so its normal no need 2 b worried!!!

  11. Just don't let her be addicted, let her find a show she likes. (pray to god it is the old nicktoons, or boomerang. I'm sure that today's shows without a doubt cause mental retardation.

Just make sure she never stops loving the outside, don't want a porker.

  12. I would not be worried that she loves Television but, I would be very selective about what she watches until she is 8 years old. The reason for this is, in College I did a research paper about the dangers of watching Violent Television and the main thing I got out of the paper was that the ages of 0 - 8 are the most critical ages that you need to worry about.

Children who are allowed to watch lots of violent programming have more problems later in life with things like violent behavior and such. So, limiting how much television children watch and what they watch until they are 8 years old can really help. That doesn't mean that once they reach 8 they can watch all the violence they want, it just didn't seem as critical after 8 according to my research.

Used properly, programs like Blues Clues and Sesame Street can be helpful to children in the pre school years. But, make sure you read to her plenty as well.

  13. I don't think you should be too worried. My son has a speech delay, and has learned so much from watching PBS and Noggin. He learned ABCs before he could say his own name by watching Sesame street and SuperWhy? He now is hooked on Oswald and franklin. He has to use his words to tell me which episode he wants. He spends tons of time in front of the TV, but he also colors, plays with his cars, climbs on the furniture, or does puzzles at the same time. He is so incredibly smart that I KNOW he is picking things up from the shows...plus I also know that he is not seeing violence or hearing bad words from the shows he watches

  14. no - I don't know why people freak out about tv there are a lot of good programs for kids these days just let her watch enough that both of you are happy.

  15. No, kids love TV, and just like adults they build their own preferences. The only time to be concerned is if she is showing signs of delayed learning/skills. Or if she doesn't not play with her toys & only wants to watch TV. Make sure to limit the TV & keep her occupied doing more constructive things.

  16. I guess I don't really understand why you think this might be worrisome, but if you don't want her watching TV, then turn it off.

  17. You shouldn't be worried that she loves television. Shows like Blues Clues can be educational. Make watching t.v. fun! Have her watch cartoons like Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go! These shows can help her learn pieces of a different language.
