I, her dad, was born here and lived there until 1995. During that time I was married to a SA Lady (who was born in SA). My daughter was born a year after our marriage (married 1981), and we were divorced in 1992. I returned to the UK, and my daughter remained with her mother and new hubby. I believe my daughter can get a british passport through me? and will she be able to do all this over there at the High Commission in Johannesburg/Pretoria? please help as I am a little confused on how we should go about this as the passport website is rather vague on such matters! Also, will I have to send my daughter my birth certificate if she nneds to attend an interview over there?

  1. UK recognizes citizenship by blood.  Thus, your daugther can qualify as a British citizen but you have to support it with documents.
