  1. There is nothing wrong in becoming a vegetarian, but there are some restrictions lol. You got to stick to being a vegan if you want to. I am born in a Hindu family and we most Hindu's are vegetarians so we dont eat meat. But me on the other hand does. I only eat chicken and thats about it. My 11 year old brother was a chicken addict. I mean everyday he had to have his nuggets. He wouldn't eat anything else besides chicken. Now he is a very strict vegan and he the little one also convinced my family. But I am the only one who did not stop. I tried to stop eating it for 1 month but i had to get back to my chicken lol. Hope I helped!

  2. You become a vegetarian by not eating meat...and possibley giving up eggs and dairy...depending on the kind of vegetarian you want to be.

As for the meat cravings...just remember...your eating a dead animal...

Since your daughter is craving meat, whenever she passes it or smells it - tell her to drink water. Make sure she brings a bottle of water with her because it can usually stop cravings. Sometimes herbal tea will also stop the cravings.

Instead of getting the actual meat (made from tortured animals) get mock meat (made from soy and vegetables). You should buy Morning Star Products and Yves.

  8. I started by dropping meats from the start.  Allowing cold cuts, like ham, salami, mortadella to make sandwiches eased my transition.  I limited myself to eating turkey, chicken, and seafoods.  At restaurants I avoided fatty meals, and went for the soups and salads. At McDonald's I ate egg-Mcmuffins, but no burgers. Allowed hot-dogs, but nothing else.

I then increased my consumption of fresh fruits, according to the seasons, and bought a Sunbeam steamer for fresh vegetables.  It made it easier that I put Cardini's Caesar Salad dressing on every salad or steam vegie; but eventually my taste buds switched to appreciation of these healthier foods.  I snacked on nuts; and I buy Jamba Smoothies instead of coffee.  They're very filling.  Most importantly, I started Hatha Yoga and bought a book to help me understand what a good diet should be.  I highly recommend it.  Then I build a support system around me, so everyone knew I was a vegan, I always got offered special meals and treats, free of glutten, and fat.  Everyone respected my vegan status, that made it easy to stay the course.  After a few years, the sight of slaughtered meat packaged at the supermarket made me queasy, and I never again had the craving for cow flesh.  I have more stamina and strength than my friends, and I know I am what I eat.

    18 year vegan.

  9. Your daughter is showing signs that her vegetarian diet is not satisfactory. Why in the world would you want to emulate her?

If you want to lose weight, eat a balanced diet - just less  than you have been eating.

  10. Take it slow, do some research. If you're both having cravings, maybe you're not ready to go full vegetarian yet. Reduce the amount of meat you eat with each meal gradually, so you don't miss it quite as much. Make sure that you are still eating a balanced diet and you should be fine.

  11. Being vegan or vegetarian is a commitment. I may crave meat but I could never ever ever ever ever ever ever imagine biting into a hamburger. Peta2.com is filled with so many amazing tips and facts that you can learn about.

The vegetarian section at a grocery store is always a great place to start! Good luck! :)

  12. You just eliminate meat from your diet.  You will need to be certain to get enough protein and riboflavin, two nutrients that vegetarians frequently lack.  Cheese and eggs will provide the protein and dark green leafy vegetables will give you riboflavin, I think.  As for cravings, it's like anything else, you just need to work your way through them until you have gotten past them.
